Success Story Venyu Solutions

“Metropolitan Fire Protection and their entire staff proved to be the perfect choice for this project. They not only designed and built critical systems that will protect our people and high-tech equipment through the 21st century but they did it while helping us preserve and revitalize a historic Shreveport landmark.”

Going the Distance

CLIENT: Venyu Solutions LLC
LOCATION: Shreveport, Louisiana
TIMELINE: Started December 2015. Completed July 2016.

Venyu, a division of EATEL Business, is a premier provider of cloud, data center, and data protection services. As part of a $20 million-dollar conversion of Shreveport’s historic Selber Brothers Department Store into a Tier III Data Center, the company contracted with Metropolitan Fire Protection.

The challenge for MFP was two-fold. First, design and build a sprinkler system for a high-tech modern business environment that integrates seamlessly into a 60 year-old landmark building. Second, initiate the project from nearly 900 miles away.

The Venyu Data Center was the largest project for MFP to date located outside the Chicago area. To assure our standards of quality craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail were consistently met, we treated this project as if it was local. All design, material procurement, and pipe fabrication was completed in house and everything was shipped to the jobsite. Then we sent personnel to manage the installation on-site.

Throughout the five-story, 87,000 sq. ft. building, MFP installed pre-action sprinkler systems with nitrogen generators to protect the data center’s 200 IT servers and switch racks. We also furnished a new electric fire pump with automatic transfer switch and installed four ECRO 25 special hazard systems, as requested by Venyu.

For Venyu, the most important outcome was hiring a highly professional, hands-on contractor that completed the project on time and within budget while exceeding expectations for quality, service, and preservation of the building’s historic integrity.

For MFP, the project proved our ability to complete a complex project anywhere in the country. Currently, we are consulting with Venyu to design and build fire protection systems for another data center in the southeast.
