| I worked in the field as a sprinkler fitter for more than 13 years – five of them with Metropolitan Fire Protection – before starting a new career in Sales and Project Management with the company. In my current job, my firsthand experience and knowledge about what really happens on-site during an installation is a valuable asset.
Sometimes, a blueprint or schematic doesn’t reflect the situation accurately, or the customer doesn’t recognize some of the obstacles or problems involved in the project. By bringing the field into the office, I can knowledgeably answer any technical question about what needs to be done and help the customer anticipate what it’s really going to take to accomplish it. That translates to more accurate estimates, more efficient scheduling and manpower allocation, and more realistic expectations on the part of the customer. It also helps us maintain the reputation we’ve worked so hard to earn for doing a job once and doing it right. |
